Blind Recovery of the Second Convolutional Encoder of a Turbo-code When Its Systematic Outputs Are Punctured

چکیده
Turbo-codes are error-correcting codes used in powerful digital transmission systems to ensure a low binary error rate. This paper presents different approaches aimed at recovering a convolutional encoder in a noncooperative context; it also explains the residual indetermination due to “equivalent” coders. Moreover, it reports on a new approach developed to recover the interleaved version of the second encoder of a Turbocode when its systematic outputs are punctured.

EXIT Chart Aided Design of Periodically Punctured Turbo Codes
EXtrinsic Information Transfer (EXIT) charts have proved to be an effective tool for studying the convergence behaviour of iterative decoders. However, classical EXIT chart analysis fails to assess the performance of turbo codes in which the systematic bits are punctured periodically. In this letter, a novel 3-Dimensional (3D) EXIT chart technique is proposed for accurately modeling the converg...
متن کاملBLIND PARAMETER ESTIMATION OF A RATE k/n CONVOLUTIONAL CODE IN NOISELESS CASE
This paper concerns to blind identification of a convolutional code with desired rate in a noiseless transmission scenario. To the best of our knowledge, blind estimation of convolutional code based on only the received bitstream doesn’t lead to a unique solution. Hence, without loss of generality, we will assume that the transmitter employs a non-catastrophic encoder. Moreover, we consider a c...
متن کاملNear Shannon Limit Error - Correcting Coding and Decoding :
This paper deals with a new class of convolutional codes called Turbo-codes, whose performances in terms of Bit Error Rate (BER) are close to the SHANNON limit. The Turbo-Code encoder is built using a parallel concatenation of two Recursive Systematic Convolutional codes and the associated decoder, using a feedback decoding rule, is implemented as P pipelined identical elementary decoders. I IN...
متن کاملAlgebraic method for blind recovery of punctured convolutional encoders from an erroneous bitstream
To enhance the quality of transmissions, all digital communication systems use error-correcting codes. By introducing some redundancy in the informative binary data stream, they allow one to better withstand channel impairments. The design of new coding schemes leads to a perpetual evolution of the digital communication systems and, thus, cognitive radio receivers have to be designed. Such rece...
متن کاملOn the Performance of Turbo Codes
The performance of the turbo code is sensitive to its code structure, which is made up of code rate, constraint length, tap connection, block size, interleaving pattern and number of decoding iterations. In this paper, mitigation techniques that can lower the error floor are adopted in both encoder and decoder. Optimum tap connections are listed for codes with constraint lengths 3, 4, and 5. Pe...
